WEEKLY UPDATE FOR FEBRUARY 16, 2012

Dear CHA Families, Submissions to the Weekly Update are due to Ruth Sherred at sherredr@chapel-hill.org by 8:00 AM Thursday. All submissions must be in the form of an email and need to be proofed and ready to print prior to sending to Ruth.

Here’s this week’s news:

Alumni Family Feedback
I am grateful for my three sons who attended such a wonderful school as CHA, and for my grandson, whom I pray will enter CHA as a Kindergartener in 2015! ~ A CHA Alumni Family

Parent Teacher Conferences
We look forward to conferencing with many parents tomorrow, Friday, February 17. The Pick-a-Time electronic conference scheduling option will close at 1:30 PM today. If you missed the electronic scheduling time frame and still wish to conference with a teacher, please email your child’s teacher directly. Teachers will be able to make additions to their schedule as needed. Additionally, Mrs. Wigle and Mrs. Sweeney will not be available on Friday for conferences. If you wish to meet with them, you are very welcomed to email them directly for a conference next week.

You're Invited to the Auction!
Your invitations should have arrived this week for the 10th Annual Live & Silent Auction event on Saturday, March 24, at BayView Event Center, 687 Excelsior Blvd. in Excelsior. First, and foremost, we want you to attend. If you would like to donate to the auction and need help with ideas, please email us at auction@chapel-hill.org. RSVP's can be returned in the basket at the Parent Center, or mailed to Chapel Hill.

Note from 3rd Grade
Thanks to all who attended and/or contributed to the Lion’s Tap fundraiser for Alex, a local boy who has leukemia. The 3rd graders have been praying for him and encouraged CHA families to participate in a fundraiser event yesterday. We are happy to report that a good amount of money was raised to cover Alex’s medical costs. We are also happy to report that Chapel Hill was well-represented. According to some servers, “You have such nice kids at that school. People were so generous. I almost cried when I saw how concerned they were.” What a wonderful way to share Jesus’ love!

CHA Parents - We Need Your Input!
In partnership with GraceWorks Ministries, we have developed an important on-line survey process that will take you about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The survey results will be compared to other Christian schools across the nation and the results will be used to identify strengths and weaknesses of Chapel Hill Academy. Your answers can be totally confidential, if you wish. As you know, your feedback helps make CHA a better school as we consider changes based on what we hear from you. You will receive an email by Monday, February 20, with details including a survey ID number for each parent in the family. The deadline for filling out the survey is Tuesday, March 20. Please contact Judy Winship at winshipj@chapel-hill.org with questions regarding the survey.

Secure a Spot for Your Child in His or Her Classroom!
Re-enrollment forms are available on-line this year! You should have received an all-school email on February 16 outlining details, including an Early Bird Discount on your re-enrollment fee for 2012-13!

ACSI District Spelling Bee Results - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
On Friday, February 3, 2012, sixteen students represented Chapel Hill Academy at the ACSI District Spelling Bee in Farmington, MN. Having first won the spelling bee in their own classrooms, the students were able to compete against the representatives from other area Christian schools. Three of our students earned the right to compete in the afternoon final round spell-down by placing first or second in the morning grade-level competitions. Of those three students, two earned the right to move on to the Regional Spelling Bee in Rockford, IL. The Regional Spelling Bee will take place Friday, March 30, 2012. Way to go, spellers!! Faith in Action!
The Spiritual Life Committee is pleased to introduce to you a new aspect to Chapel! Faith in Action! James 2:17 “…faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” Faith in Action is a short video clip that is shown each week at Chapel that highlights a student, class, parent, teacher, or…that has chosen to take a verse from God’s Word and live it out to impact the world for Christ. The idea behind the video is to bring glory to God and not elevate the person on the screen. The goal is to help “spur” one another on to live out our faith. Please be on the lookout at home, school, sports teams, anywhere and be encouraging your child to put their faith in action. When God uses your child in a situation that you think can help encourage another believer, please let your teacher know and your child will become a candidate for one of our Faith in Action video clips. Come to Chapel Wednesday’s 8:25-9:15 AM and/or 9:25-10:00 AM for great teaching and to see our students living out their Faith in Action!
